Cornell Big Red men's lacrosse





The Cornell Big Red Men's Lacrosse team represents Cornell University in National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I men's lacrosse.

History

Cornell competes as a member of the Ivy League, of which they have won 28 conference championships (18 outright, 10 shared), more than any other school (Princeton has won 26).

The team was undefeated and untied in league play during 17 of their 18 outright championships, the most of any Ivy team.

The Big Red have appeared in the NCAA lacrosse tournament 26 times.

They have won the three championships and were runner up four times, most recently in 2009 when they lost to Syracuse in overtime 10-9.

Cornell maintains one of the oldest rivalries in college lacrosse with the Hobart College Statesmen. Their main Ivy League rivalry is with Princeton.

Cornell has claimed three NCAA national championships and four pre-NCAA era titles. Some of the all time great lacrosse players and coaches have played for or coached the Big Red, including Mike French, Eamon McEneaney and Richie Moran.

In 2013, Rob Pannell led Cornell to the NCAA semifinals, also breaking the all-time career scoring mark that season.

Cornell played their first official season of lacrosse in 1892, have played a total of 114 seasons with 673 wins, 7 national titles and over a .600 all time win percentage.

(3) Won NCAA 1st round 16-8 over Maryland. Won quarterfinal 16-6 over Ohio state. Lost semifinal 16-14 to Duke.
(4) Won NCAA 1st round 13-12 over Bucknell. Won quarterfinal 13-9 over Cornell. Won semifinal 15-12 over Denver.
(5) Won NCAA 1st round 18-4 over Mount Saint Mary's.
(6) Won NCAA 1st round 11-8 over Hofstra. Won quarterfinal 6-4 over Princeton. Won semifinal 15-6 over Virginia. Lost National Championship to Syracuse 10-9.
(7) Lost NCAA 1st round 15-7 to Ohio state.
