Passaic County Community College is an accredited, co-educational, two-year, public, community college located in Passaic County, New Jersey. The school's main campus is located in Paterson. The Wanaque Academic Center is located in Wanaque, has over 1,000 students. The Public Safety Academy is based in Wayne. In addition, there is a campus in Passaic that opened its doors for the first time on September 11, 2008.
§General information
The Spring 2008 semester enrollment was 7,142 students. PCCC offers associate's degrees, diploma and certificate programs in areas such as liberal arts, business, information technology, human services, and English as a second language. Programs are offered days, evenings and Saturdays. Financial aid is available to qualified applicants. Students who are at least 18 years old or have graduated high school are admitted to the College. Non-credit continuing education classes are also available in a wide variety of areas.
The original campus is the Paterson campus, which opened its doors in 1971. The Wanaque Academic Center opened its doors in 2000.
The Public Safety Academy in Wayne opened its doors September 28, 2003. The Academy serves first responder training needs, particularly for the volunteer fire and Emergency medical technician (EMT) squads throughout Passaic County. In addition to PCCC's fire science and criminal justice classes, some liberal arts and humanities classes are offered at the Academy as well. Non-credit continuing education courses offered at the Public Safety Academy include Emergency Medical Technician, Fire Inspector and Fire Official courses, Uniform Construction Code courses, and Commercial driver's license training.
PCCC's current president is Dr. Steven Rose.
The athletic teams are called the "Panthers". They field teams in both men's and women's basketball, men's soccer, and women's volleyball.
The PCCC motto is "Nothing so near can take you so far!"
Passaic County Community College is accredited by the Commission on Higher Education of the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools.
In 2003, the Paterson Community Technology Center (CTC) opened its doors. The PCTC is housed in a renovated, three-story, 15,000-square-foot (1,400Â m2) facility adjacent to PCCC's main campus. Through this state-of-the-art facility, PCCC provides access to technology and technology training to local community organizations and local residents. Non-profit community organizations can utilize the facility to conduct technology training for free. Residents can take citizenship, business, and basic computer workshops for free or at a low cost.
The new parking garage facility in Paterson opened on October 29, 2007, with more than 700 spots available for students, faculty and staff.
The Poetry Center at Passaic County Community College has been accorded international recognition for many of its activities including the Distinguished Poets Series, the Allen Ginsberg Poetry Awards, the Paterson Poetry Prize, the Paterson Fiction Prize, and the Paterson Prize for Books for Young People. The annual Paterson Literary Review, the monthly New Jersey Poetry Calendar and the New Jersey Poetry Resource Book are also published by the Poetry Center.

§Planned Extension Campus in Passaic
Passaic County Community College opened a new extension campus in the city of Passaic for the fall 2008 semester. The new site will allow PCCC to reach the 15% of its students who come from the city of Passaic. The college's nursing program was relocated and expanded at the new campus to provide a qualified program to help fill the longstanding nursing shortage.
